RESEARCH
"Ensuring affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all by 2030 remains possible but will require more sustained efforts, particularly to reach some of the world’s poorest populations and to improve energy sustainability"
IEA, IRENA, UNSD, World Bank, WHO
My research centers on energy and environmental economics, industrial organization, and development economics. I integrate economic theory, econometrics, and data analysis to investigate three primary areas. First, I study the production of energy and production functions within energy markets, focusing on the diffusion of technological innovations and its interaction with economic regulation, environmental policies, and corporate strategies. Second, I explore the obstacles to expanding electricity access in developing regions by studying consumers’ demand for energy and infrastructure from both theoretically and empirical perspectives. Finally, I use optimization and simulation techniques to determine optimal market policies and understand market dynamics. My work bridges theoretical concepts with practical applications, enhancing our understanding of economic agents’ behaviors and providing insights to support sustainable energy transitions and improve market efficiency.
WORK EXPERIENCE
"Some things cannot be taught; they must be experienced."
Roy T. Bennett
My professional journey has encompassed roles as teaching fellow and research assistant at Columbia University. Prior to enrolling at Columbia, I worked as research assistant at the Wisconsin Institute of Technology, specializing in computational economics. With over six years of consultancy experience, I have delivered tailored economic and financial solutions to a diverse array of institutions and firms. Throughout this trajectory, I have sharpened my expertise in econometrics, data science, machine learning, programming, statistical modeling, and economic theory, forging a robust skill set poised at the nexus of theoretical rigor and practical application.
TEACHING
"When one teaches, two learn."
Robert Heinlein
I have had the privilege of instructing courses in econometrics, industrial organization, energy economics, and development economics. My pedagogical philosophy blends rigorous mathematical models with practical, real-world illustrations. This approach not only equips students with theoretical depth but also cultivates their ability to apply these concepts meaningfully in academic pursuits and policymaking arenas.
