RESEARCH
"Ensuring affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all by 2030 remains possible but will require more sustained efforts, particularly to reach some of the world’s poorest populations and to improve energy sustainability"
IEA, IRENA, UNSD, World Bank, WHO
My research focuses on two primary areas in energy and environmental economics. First, I examine the diffusion of technological innovations and their interaction with economic regulation, environmental policies, and market outcomes. By integrating economic theory, econometrics, mathematical optimization, and scientific methods, I investigate the factors influencing the adoption of new technologies in energy markets and their impact on market dynamics. Second, I explore household demand for energy and infrastructure from both theoretical and empirical perspectives, identifying obstacles to expanding electricity access and consumption in low-income areas. Ultimately, my research enhances our understanding of the behaviors of economic agents and provides insights that support sustainable energy transitions.
WORK EXPERIENCE
"Some things cannot be taught; they must be experienced."
Roy T. Bennett
My professional journey includes roles as a Teaching Fellow and Research Assistant at Columbia University. Prior to enrolling at Columbia, I worked as Research Assistant at the Wisconsin Institute of Technology. In addition, I have worked for over six years providing consultancy services, with proven track in economic regulation, policy analysis, market monitoring, economic damages, demand estimation, and utility regulation. I have also supported senior team members on expert testimony.
TEACHING
"When one teaches, two learn."
Robert Heinlein
I have had the privilege of instructing courses in econometrics, industrial organization, energy economics, and development economics. My pedagogical philosophy blends rigorous mathematical models with practical, real-world illustrations. This approach not only equips students with theoretical depth but also cultivates their ability to apply these concepts meaningfully in academic pursuits and policymaking arenas.
